Blog is short for weblog. A weblog or blog for short, is a website which contains periodic updates or  posts, much like an online journal or diary. "Posts" are just entries in the blog. Usually the blog provider provides an editing environment for the author which requires minimal technical expertise to use. The author is free to add new content, and modify or delete existing content. Usually posts can contain text and images.

Blogging is becoming increasingly popular with journalists and other who wish to "have their say" without the hassle of updating a website in the usual manner.
